A New Way To See Horses: Stunning Equine Fine Art Photography

As a professional equine photographer based in Dorset, I have had the privilege of photographing and capturing the spirit of many beautiful horses and ponies in fine art photography.

Each horse and pony is unique and has its own personality, which is why I believe that fine art equine photography is the best way to capture their essence. It's really special to capture your relationship and friendship with your equine best friend in photographs for your home so I'll always ensure that I'll get you in front of the camera for our equine photoshoot!

Fine art equestrian and equine photography allows me to capture the horse in its natural environment (usually at home), without any distractions. This way, I can really focus on the horse's individual features and character. I also love to capture moments of tenderness and friendship between horse and rider. These translate into beautiful personal portrait art work that you can enjoy framed at your walls to treasure and cherish for many years.

Did you know we can create a beautiful image like this at your own yard?

This stunning black background image above are created quite simply by using a stable door or barn doorway (plus an assistant on hand prepared to shake some treats to get the horses ears up!)

I believe that fine art photography is the best way to capture the spirit of a horse. If you are looking for a photographer to capture the character of your horse and the special bond you share together in timeless, stunning images, then please do contact me to chat more about the sessions.

So, you're interested in booking an equine photography shoot - what happens next?

Getting to know you:

Once I confirm your date is available for your horse and rider equestrian portrait session I'll send over an online questionnaire. I know that you might feel a little anxious that your horse or pony might misbehave during a profession photography session. That's why my pre-session questionnaire helps me get to know all about you and the temperament of your lovely horse(s) and talk through what happens on the day of your photo session. This ensure the session runs smoothly and is relaxed. Most clients fill this out online but if you wish to hop on a call and do this instead, that's absolutely fine. I know that working with horses that things don't always go to plan so I always like to reassurance clients that I always go by your lead as the person that knows the horse the best and your safety is paramount, I'll never ask you to do anything that you don't feel comfortable with.

Planning an outfit for your Equestrian Photography Session

I get that you are probably most comfortable in muddy yard boots and dirty jodhpurs and you might be worried you won’t know what to wear for your session? Please don’t worry! I love to give clients a pre-photoshoot getting ready guide where I share lots of inspiration for dressing for the session but still feeling comfortable and feeling great! Booking a session far in advance gives you plenty of time to shop your own wardrobe to choose your perfect outfits!.

The location of your horse and rider photoshoot

Booking in advance gives us even more time to plan the equine photoshoot location. We are so spoilt for beautiful countryside and costal locations here in Dorset. You might have particular setting in mind for your photos. Most clients love to having me come and visit them at their own homes and have their photos taken at your own yard as that is usually where the horse is most settled. However we can also meet at a special location, for example your favourite countryside hack that you have wonderful memories riding at. Or why not have a special equine beach photoshoot at one of the many horse friendly beaches along the Dorset and Hampshire coastline. Your relaxed session usually lasts around an hour or two. I know with our wonderful changeable British weather that often don't go to plan so I normally like to keep a close eye on the weather forecast as the session approaches in case your session needs to be changed and rearranged.

When is the best time of year to book professional photographs with horse?

When is the best time to book your equine photoshoot? As soon as you'd like! Each different season has it's own unique beauty and now is the perfect opportunity to capture beautiful memories of your special relationship with your best friend. What's a better way to spend a few hours having quality time cuddling your gorgeous horse which produce some truly special memories documented in beautiful, natural photographs?

When do I get to see my images from the session?

After your session I will carefully go through the images, selecting and editing the very best pictures for your gallery. I will then contact you a week after the photoshoot to arrange a time that suits you for a private viewing for you to look at and enjoy your beautiful images.

Especially now with the beautiful autumn season nearly here, equine photoshoot dates are booking up rapidly! The sooner you book, the better your chance for your desired date, and the more quickly you will have time to get familiar with the photo shoot process, plan your outfits and best of all get excited!

I also offer equine photoshoot gift vouchers which makes an ideal present if you would like to purchase a voucher for a family member, friend or hint to your special someone for your own upcoming birthday maybe!

You can connect with me through email, phone call, and text. We'll speak about your dream images for you and horse, and chat about clothing and locations. I'll work with you to develop photos that do justice to the time you've spent with heart horse.
